Anti Wrinkle Diet
Eating the right foods can have a significant effect on how young and radiant we look. An anti wrinkle diet is one that includes healthy foods that are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that fight inflammation, strengthen collagen and elastin, and keep our cells functioning at optimum levels to protect against wrinkle causing elements.
Be sure to include the following foods and nutrients in your anti wrinkle diet to help skin look young, smooth, and glowing:
WATER
One of the most important aspects of an anti wrinkle diet is water. Drinking at least eight to ten 8 ounce glasses of water every day will hydrate and moisturize your skin and make a tremendous difference in the way you look and feel.
VEGETABLES
Brightly colored vegetables are rich in antioxidants, nutrients, enzymes, fiber, phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals such as carotenes, Vitamin C and E, glutathione, and selenium—all of which reduce inflammation and protect our body from free radical attack. You should eat at least five to six servings of vegetables each day.
The following are a few vegetables that are especially helpful in fighting wrinkles:
Carrots are rich in alpha carotene which is a natural sun blocker.
Cucumber and bell pepper are sources of silicon which can improve the appearance of skin.
Parsnip is a well-known beauty tonic for skin, hair, and nails.
FRUITS
An anti wrinkle diet should also include plenty of fresh fruits, including strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, and avocados. Berries and almost all other fresh fruit supply needed antioxidants and vitamins that help your skin cells fight off the signs and damage of aging.
LEGUMES
Legumes--beans, lentils, split peas--are high in fiber, protein, phytochemicals, antioxidants, and vitamins that can help prevent wrinkles and sagging skin.
LEAN PROTEIN
Lean protein is necessary for cellular repair and wrinkle-free skin. The best sources are fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy.
RAW FOODS
Raw foods--herbs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds--are the most nutrient rich foods that we can eat. Raw foods are cleansing, rejuvenating, energizing, and help prevent aging. Raw nuts are a fabulous source of zinc and protein--zinc can help your skin look young and toned. Raw foods also supply our body with an abundance of enzymes which are needed to properly digest our food--undigested material can lead to inflammation, weight gain, and wrinkles. Cooking our foods destroys many vitamins and enzymes.
JUICES
Fresh juices are at work in the bloodstream within about 30 minutes of our drinking them because raw foods are broken down into an easily absorbable form. Juicing is the best way to get a high concentration of all the beneficial vitamins that fruits and vegetables provide.
Vegetable juices are packed with an abundance of vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and enzymes and are an excellent way to improve the body's acid-alkaline balance--overacidity is an underlying cause of ailments that rob us of our youthful appearance.
Noni, acai, goji, and pomegranate juices are all high in antioxidants and have been known to have amazing anti-wrinkle results.
Wheat grass juice is an excellent anti-wrinkle fighter and is known to improve the body’s ability to heal wounds, help remove toxic metals from the cells, and restore vitality.
HERBS AND SPICES
Herbs and spices have many anti-aging health benefits. Ginger is rich in zinc, an important mineral for healing the skin, preventing sunburn, and preventing senile purpura (purple spots under the skin caused by bleeding).
Turmeric, part of the ginger family, reduces inflammation and acts as a powerful antioxidant.
Garlic has antioxidant properties and aids in weight control.
Celtic sea salt is known for its detoxifying properties and promotes restful sleep.
